The ‘Old Tiger’ Returns

Tiger Woods won the World Golf Championships- Bridgestone Invitational for the sixth time at Firestone Golf Club on Sunday. Five times a player has won the same tournament six-plus times, but only three players have collected six victories on the same course.

• His 58th career PGA TOUR victory is the fifth-most in TOUR history. Arnold Palmer stands in fourth with 62 victories.

• Tiger Woods earned his 58th career PGA TOUR victory at the age of 31 years, 7 months and 6 days in his 226th (212th professional) career start on TOUR.

• Tiger Woods has won 14 of 25 official World Golf Championships events, including six of the last eight dating back to the 2005 Bridgestone Invitational.

• He remains the tournament’s all-time leading money winner with $7,952,500, and has surpassed the $7 million mark for the first time in a single event. With his Sunday paycheck of $1,350,000, he improved season earnings to $6,564,385. He also has surpassed the $72 million mark in career PGA TOUR Official Money with $72,276,709.

  1. Congrats to Tiger. Rory and the PGA should be ashamed. I have written the PGA asking that they apologize to Steve Banky and give him passes to next week’s championship. This is a classic example of what is wrong with sports. A total chauncy talks smack, gets it shoved in his face, and then takes it out on the little guy. A retired firefighter no less.

    I will be posting something to this effect on my blog. I was wondering if you might do the same.
