Just wanted to let everyone know that the Score will be televising the Queen’s football game Saturday night @ 7pm, their opponent the Windsor Lancers. The Gaels are off to a (3-0) start which currently has them #8 in the country.. If you’re watching the game keep an eye out for #82 Hugeberg!!
WHY TO WATCH
A rematch of one of the most entertaining games on the University Rush last season features Windsor versus Queen’s in prime time. Queen’s wants to seek some measure of revenge after their homecoming party was spoiled last year. They rallied but were unable to close it out after rallying from 21 down.
This year they get a chance to return the favour at Windsor’s homecoming where the Lancers, a preseason favourite, are below .500 for the first time this season.
WHEN QUEEN’S HAS THE BALL
The nation’s 13th best offense is doing things in a new way this year. Their newfound balanced attack comes thanks to the emergence of Mike Giffin, who is keeping defences on their toes. Danny Brannagan, the former Team Canada QB is starting to come into his own as a passer. He is eight in the nation in passing and boasts a sparkling 5-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
Windsor is strong in the secondary which matches up well with a historically pass-happy Queen’s outfit. The Lancers come in with the nation’s 18th-best defence grading out 12th-best against the run. Much of their defensive struggles have to do with injuries in the line-backing corps which have caused head coach Mike Morencie to shuffle his players around and dig deeper in the well of depth than maybe he was comfortable with this early in the campaign. That’s more like it. Nice set up man, I’ll be recording the game and watching it later since we’re having Jas’s parents over for dinner.
Don’t forget about the D-Fence! D.J. Mullholland ( the former LaSalle Black Knight) is leading the D to some stellar performances.
